Course Description

Sahitya III – Nataka offers an immersive study of Sanskrit dramaturgy, focusing on the Lakṣaṇāni (defining traits) of Dṛśya kāvyāni (visual poetry). Students will differentiate between various Rūpakāṇi (dramatic forms) and cultivate a deeper appreciation for kāvyāni through the application of rasa theory. The course emphasizes the correlation between Saṃskṛtadṛśyakāvyāni (Sanskrit visual poetry) and other theatrical activities as outlined in the nāṭyaśāstram. By exploring the essence of saṃskṛtakāvyam, students will enhance their interpretative skills and understanding of classical texts. Practical components include composing scripts for theatrical performances based on nāṭyaśāstram, promoting creativity and mastery of Sanskrit dramaturgical principles. Class Structure

Each MAS course comprises 45 hours of teaching and with 2 quizzes and 2 assignments. The number of assignments and quizzes change subject to faculty discretion. Final exams for all courses conducted at the end of the semester.
