A village shop is set to close at the end of the month. Siop Pentrefoelas opened over 12 years ago - bringing a store back go the Conwy village for the first time in more than three years.

It was opened under the Mace brand by Simon Williams and Llewelyn Hill - with Llewelyn the sole director in recent years. But he has now posted on social media that the shop will close.

He said he has to return to South Africa to care for his father. The shop owner asked for anyone who was serous about taking it over to come forward.

He said: "I am sad to announce that Siop Pentrefoelas will be closing before the end of this month. I have dedicated the last twelve and a half years to Siop Pentrefoelas but now the time has come to re-evaluate my priorities.

"It’s been a very difficult decision but I must return to South Africa to care for and support my father in this final phase of his life. I’m sure you will understand that family takes precedence above all else.

"If someone seriously wishes to purchase the business and in so doing, ensure that Pentrefoelas retains its village shop, then please come have a chat with me. But be quick, as I am almost on my way.

"If there is no buyer, then it will be greatly appreciated if everybody would give it one last push to help clear out as much stock as possible in the next two weeks. Finally, a huge Thank You to those who have continued to support the shop throughout the last twelve and a half years."
