A woman accused of murdering a 65-year-old man in Colwyn Bay is set to face trial next year. Lauren Harris, 29, of no fixed address but from the Colwyn Bay area, is charged with murdering David Wilcox on November 20 at a property in Bay View Road.

Due to "medical reasons", Harris was not present at the hearing at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday morning. Judge Rhys Rowlands was told Harris' legal team had "broad instructions", and confirmed she wanted to be tried.

Mold Magistrates Court heard on Saturday that Harris "categorically denied" the charge. A provisional trial date of Monday, May 20 was agreed during Tuesday's brief hearing.

The trial is expected to last between two and three weeks, but this could increase if charges are brought against any other people in relation to the incident. Following Mr Wilcox's death, two men - a 33-year-old from Colwyn Bay and a 42-year-old man from Widnes in Cheshire - were arrested.

Both were released on conditional police bail.
