A 29-year-old woman appeared before a special court today accused of the murder of a man of 65 in a stabbing at a seaside town. Much of Colwyn Bay town centre in North Wales and a slip-road to the A55 Expressway had been cordoned off after the death of David Wilcox.

Lauren Harris, of no fixed address Colwyn Bay, was remanded in custody by magistrates at Mold until she appears before Mold Crown Court on Tuesday. Defence solicitor Sharley Potter represented her during a five-minute hearing.

Harris “categorically denies” involvement in the alleged murder, the lawyer declared. Prosecutor Scott McCrimmon gave brief details of the allegation.

Harris is charged with murder on November 20 at a property in Bay View Road. Two men also arrested in connection with the tragedy have been released on conditional police bail pending further investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah-Jayne Williams, of North Wales Police, said on Friday: “Our inquiries are ongoing.”
