The beauty of North Wales is being "utterly destroyed" by wind turbines, an outraged reader has claimed. LJ Jenkins the scenery of areas such as Mynydd Mynyllod near Corwen in the Vale of Edeyrnion would be desecrated if wind turbines were erected there.

The Gwbert resident argued "they would be taller than Blackpool Tower" and would be an "eyesore". Another reason to oppose wind farms according to Jenkins is the noise pollution claiming "sleep will be ruined and many will become ill."

"Do the people of these towns and villages realise they will hear the deep thump from these gigantic turbines day and night?"

The reader's outrage follows the news that the Welsh Government will set up a state-owned energy developer, focused on building on-shore wind turbines.

The Welsh Government wants to create more on-shore wind farms
Should we stop building on-shore wind turbines?

The Minister for Climate Change, Julie James. said energy profits created in Wales will deliver greater benefit for people in Wales. Surplus funds generated through the new developer will go back into the public purse to be reinvested in improving energy efficiency in homes in Wales.
However, one North Wales Live reader argued "building more wind farms is not the answer. Not only are they ugly, a blight on the landscape and kill birds, they can't come anywhere near to supplying the country's energy needs."

But what do you think? Would windfarms be a blight on the North Wales landscape. Would they cause noise pollution and stop residents from sleeping at night? Or could they boost the local economy and help save the planet? Share your thoughts in the comment section below
