As the weather gets warmer plenty more people will be flocking to the North Wales coast. Though it’s still not quite hot enough to sunbathe, there are dozens of beaches waiting to be explored and what better place to end a nice stroll than at a cosy pub?

Gwynedd is home to some of the region’s most beautiful scenery. From the peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia) down to the white sandy beaches, it’s got it all.

Among Gwynedd’s most impressive beaches is Black Rock Sands in Morfa Bychan. This three mile walk starts on the beach and ends in Porthmadog where there are a selection of pubs to choose from to quench your thirst and grab a bite to eat.

Starting at Black Rock Sands you’ll find stunning open views of the coast which stretches for miles. As you walk along the beach you will see the secluded sandy coves the area is known for.

From the beach there are breathtaking sea views as far as Ireland on a clear day. After taking in plenty of sea air, you will then head inland towards Porthmadog Golf Club.

This section of the walk takes you onto higher ground with stunning views of Snowdonia and Tremadog Bay. Then head back towards the coast to reach the picturesque harbour of Borth Y Gest village which has its own sea front and pastel painted buildings facing the sea.

For the final leg of the walk you’ll head towards Porthmadog, the historic Victorian town bustling with cafes and pubs to rest your feet after breathing in all that sea air.

Y Llong (The Ship) and The Australia are two pubs that are popular with both tourists and locals. Both venues serve traditional pub grub as well as a selection of drinks to help you rehydrate after a refreshing stroll.
