Slap, bang in the middle of North Wales' smallest town is a cafe which boasts something rarer than a hen's tooth - unanimously positive reviews on Tripadvisor. Situated roughly halfway between Denbigh and Holywell, less than two miles off the A55, Caerwys is a beautiful small town overlooked by the imposing Moel-y-Parc to its south.
At the heart of the town is On The Corner cafe. The popular establishment is so much more than just a local cafe and offers a wide range of specials, wraps, sandwiches, burgers and mains.
I arrived in Caerwys at around 1.30pm on a Thursday afternoon and the town was very quiet, bar the occasional car trundling by. Despite that, the cafe itself was packed with people of all ages enjoying the wide range of cuisine on offer.

I decided to try the big breakfast, which set me back £8.45. There were smaller portion sizes on offer and also a highly-rated vegan breakfast option which has had rave reviews online.
The staff were very friendly and courteous and the atmosphere in the cafe was very warm and relaxed. After a ten minute wait my food was ready and I made my way back to the car.

Now, £8.45 may not sound like the cheapest breakfast around, there are certainly less expensive places to grab a breakfast in North Wales. However the first thing that struck me was the excellent portion size and the quality of the food (bar one oddly shaped sausage!).
The bacon, for example, was almost gammon-like in terms of thickness and texture - absolutely delicious. The fried egg, hash brown, beans, black pudding, mushrooms and toast were all fantastic, stunningly tasty.
The only downside for me was the sausages, they weren't the best I've ever tasted in truth and that was disappointing given how fantastic the rest of the meal was. All in all however, I have to say that On The Corner thoroughly deserves its excellent reputation and I will certainly return in the near future.
