Forecasters are predicting another cold day for North Wales, with temperatures dropping to -4C in parts overnight, heading into Saturday.

Once again the east is set to be colder than the west as the cold weather continues. The Met Office has said wintry showers may "clip" Anglesey today ahead of another frosty weekend.

BBC Wales weatherman Derek Brockway said temperatures dropped to as low as -6C in some parts of North Wales last night, but the freezing conditions are set to ease going further into December, although there could be some snow in the north.

He wrote on X: "After a cold frosty start with sunshine and some wintry showers, December is expected to turn less cold/milder also wetter & windy at times. Some transient snow most likely in the north."

Forecasters are predicting elsewhere in Wales, the lowest temperature could be as low as -7C tonight, with further winter showers in the west:

Today:

After a frosty start, most of Wales will have a dry day with some winter sunshine once any early freezing fog clears. Wintry showers may clip Anglesey and Pembrokeshire at times. Feeling cold but winds staying very light. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Temperatures quickly dropping below freezing this evening with a sharp frost developing inland. Freezing fog patches forming inland, especially in the east. Wintry showers arriving on many other western coasts. Minimum temperature -7 °C.

Saturday:

Freezing fog patches in places at first, perhaps lingering in some eastern locations. Otherwise, sunny spells for some but wintry showers are possible in the west, pushing east later. Cold. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Turning increasingly unsettled through the period with spells of rain and perhaps hill snow at first, moving eastwards. Turning a little milder but still feeling chilly at times.
