Eryri or Snowdonia to many outside Wales, is officially the country's most Instagrammable tourist attraction. The national park is also a hit in the UK where it takes eighth spot. A study, conducted by caravan insurance experts InsureMy, analysed hashtags on Instagram to establish the most famous destinations and attractions in the UK.
When added together, the hashtags #snowdonia and #eryri have a total of over 1.3 million Instagram posts. Many of these posts display the mountainous region, with users also posting themselves on the mountain peaks at sunrise.
Eryri was the only Welsh destination to make the UK top 10, with the Lake District topping the list with over 4.9 million posts. Two London destinations make up the rest of the top three, with the London Eye having over 3.4 million posts and Big Ben 3.3 million.
We revealed last year how Eryri's National Park Authority (NPA) had agreed to use Eryri and Yr Wyddfa instead of, or alongside, Snowdonia and Snowdon where possible. That has seen a notable increase in the use of the #eryri hashtag on Instagram.
