Many people have their favourites, but these are our ours, either for the quality of the pub or proximity to the beach, or in most cases both. The following six pubs are our recommendations to check out over the upcoming holiday seasons.

Ty Coch Inn

Potentially North Wales' most iconic beachside pub, tucked away in the small area of Porthdinllaen, Pwllheli - it can be tricky pub to find for the uninitiated, but once found this pub offers such wonders that you couldn't be flawed for coming again and again. The pub itself looks straight out on to the beach, with its beer garden to the side so close to beach it's possible sit with your feet in the sand.

At high tide the pub couldn't be closer to the ocean as the tide runs almost to the foot of the pub, step out of the front entrance down three steps and you could find yourself paddling. For those just looking for the view though, they can soak in the sun from outside bar with plenty of shelter on hand for those hotter days.

Top all this off with a great choice of drinks available at the bar, the possibility to take your pint directly on to the beach or to walk straight out of the sea and get one, and you're on for a sure fire winner.

Tavern in the Bay

Sitting on the edge of Red Wharf Bay the Tavern in the Bay is "arguably one of the best" around. Located on the edge of one of Anglesey's bes beach, the pub can be a little tricky to find at times.

GPS will take you the wrong way entirely, but once there you'll be glad you made the trip.

This pub has an extensive outdoor seating area, raised looking over the bay itself which is just a couple of minutes walk away, with an easily accessible walkway available. Thanks to this space the pub offers superb views looking out across the sea and beyond with views going on in both directions, allowing you to get sun for much larger part of the day.

The venue is also well regarded for its food and drink, with top notch service and a range of nibbles perfect for a post-afternoon swim, this is an ideal spot for an afternoon chill.

Oyster Catcher

Staying on the island of Anglesey you'll find plenty of options for beachside beer gardens thanks to its natural geography. One of the more popular spots on the opposite coast though is the Oyster Catcher in Rhosneigr.

This pub looks out over the sand dunes of the area and has established itself as one of the top places to visit on the island in recent years. With superb views out over sandy dunes of Tywyn Llyn, this striking building is hard to miss, with 360 degree views all around as on the opposite end of the building you'll find Llyn Maelog.

Thanks to its open location the pub also gets sun from dawn in until dusk, the trade off is the beach is a little further away but can still be reached in about a five minute walk. Depending on what mood your feeling there's also a choice of bar, with the restaurant areas upstairs and Will's Bar downstairs for a more relaxed evening.

This bar sits at the edge of the village of Talacre, Flintshire in a quirky looking blue building. The venue is extremely family friendly thanks to a range of unique and interesting décor inside, but also suitable for those just looking to pop for a post-beach pint.

The beer garden itself is a little tucked away and doesn't offer direct views over the coastline, but you can follow the road outside the pub and within about five minutes find yourself on the tucked away beach of Talacre, an unspoilt beach with a real natural charm to it.

The pub also hosts lots of events and entertainments in the beer garden, so be sure to keep an eye out in your looking for some more lively evenings.

Not content with a beach on the doorstep this pub in Conwy decided that a little more fun and games was needed. Rhos Fynach in Rhos-On-Sea, has its very own mini-golf course perfect for keeping the kids busy while you enjoy a pint.

The pub is the ideal spot to retire to for a midday pint, with the kids entertained you can lay back and enjoy one of the wide selection of drinks from the bar. Food is also available so you can load up before heading back out to beach for another afternoon of swimming.

This out of the way bar sits right on Llanbedrog Beach, a small sandy curved bay hidden away by natural geography. In the summer, the sea here turns a crystal green-blue and becomes an ideal spot for families to bring children for a paddle thanks to shallow waters.

This bright blue bar sits just a little above the beach and offers views over and across it, top this off with a food and drinks available throughout the day and it becomes and ideal spot if you fancy somewhere a little more secluded. In prior years the bar has been nominated among the best beach bars in the UK, so it is clearly a spot worth visiting.
