The Royal Family divide opinion in North Wales, with some supporting them and others against the whole concept. That's shown in the way people think of the Royal investiture in Caernarfon.

While the event was a spectacle, lots of North Wales Live readers would be against any repeat for Prince William, now the Prince of Wales. That's despite his close links with the region through his time living and working on Anglesey.

However Kevin Roberts from Tremeirchion believes having an investiture would see North Wales get its fair share of the focus, compared with the south. He said: "Recently there have been Royal events in quick succession – the late Queen’s funeral, the coronation and, last weekend, the Trooping of the Colour. Not to mention the ongoing Prince Harry saga.

"Hence it is understandable that an investiture is not presently an urgent priority for the new Prince of Wales. Very little has been said but the general feeling is that, if and when it comes, an investiture will not be on the same scale as the 1969 ceremony in Caernarfon.

"South Wales gets most of the glory – international rugby/football matches and the Royal Welsh Show for example. Yes, Builth Wells is well and truly in the deep south – anyone in Holyhead would agree wholeheartedly. To achieve North and South Wales equality for major events, nothing beats the peripatetic Eisteddfod Genedlaethol.

"Looks as though they sensibly use the Aberystwyth latitude as the dividing line for their brilliant 'odd years in the north, evens in the south' edict. Therefore, looking forward to either 2024 or 2026, the south will have the Genedlaethol and the north could have the Investiture. What could be fairer? Job sorted."

But where do you stand? Would an investiture share the joy as Kevin suggests? Or is it a waste of money in an area that has large pockets of apathy or even resentment towards the Royals?
