The historic town of Mold is famous for several things - its market, the Mold Cape and Asian cuisine. Okay, perhaps I'm pushing it with the last one but it is true to say there does seem to be a disproportionate amount of superb Indian, Chinese and Thai takeaways in the Flintshire town.

Not that I'm complaining - far from it. I had a superb meal from Thai Kitchen a few months ago, which will sadly soon close its doors, and have also visited Club Spice in recent times.

One place I hadn't previously visited was the hugely popular Asia Sensation. One look at the online reviews suggested I needed to break my duck so I headed confidently to the King Street restaurant - armed with the knowledge that several Tripadvisor users have deemed it to be the best Chinese in Flintshire.

I decided to order online and it was refreshingly easy - the restaurant has their own app for ordering and you receive a 10% discount when ordering online, as well as a further £2 off on your first order. I pencilled in my time slot for collection and arrived there around 7pm.

The restaurant itself was relatively quiet when I got there but staff seemed to be very busy organising meals for delivery and presumably collection. I arrived slightly early but the friendly gentleman had my food ready in no time and I was away.

I decided to go for sweet and sour chicken with salt and pepper chips. My sister, who decided she wanted to see what the online fuss was about, went for chicken foo yang.

The order came to a slightly pricey £21.20 (after discounts) but the portion size was more than generous. The food was absolutely piping hot (hotter than the sun as Alan Partridge would say) so we decided to make the 20-minute journey home to eat it.

The food was thankfully still warm after arriving home, which is always a good sign. Despite my previous comment about the price, the quality of the food turned out to be terrific value.

The sweet-and-sour special was delicious, with tender chicken and pork and fresh veg, while the sauce itself was amongst the tastiest I've tried. The salt and pepper chips were fantastic too and my sister thoroughly enjoyed her chicken foo yang.

Overall, Asia Sensation fully deserves its impeccable reviews. Whether it's the best in the county is still up for debate but I'd definitely give it a thumbs up and recommend a visit next time you're in the north east.
