Reviewer picks a cafe in a North Wales town packed with eating out options

Which town in North Wales has the most places where you can get something to eat? Llandudno Junction is arguably the winner per square mile.

I was listing them the other day and just seemed to keep going. I counted at least 14 within about a mile then stopped: Tesco’s cafe, Smashed, the Old Station Hotel, aka the Killer where people traditionally kill time waiting for a train, Golden City, Fu House, Junction Chinese, Enoch’s fish and chip shop, Providero, The Maelgwyn pub, Junction Tandoori Restaurant, Sarah’s Bakery, Ku Mes fried chicken, Bay Grill II and Chang Lung takeaway. The Welsh Government civil servants also have the canteen in their building on nearby Sarn Mynach.

That’s not to mention the McDonald's, KFC and Pizza Hut too at the leisure park. And there is also Coffee Junction.

The latter may be quite a discreet little place but it’s certainly popular and has been for years. I was in Llandudno Junction the other day and called in.

I chose the mushroom omelette and chips. It came quite promptly and was very well-cooked. A dash of tomato ketchup did the trick and filled me up.

I would have liked a side salad but there wasn't even any garnish. Maybe times are hard. It was still very pleasant and a convenient place to get a bite to eat.

A latte was also very good and it was a lovely lunch. The setting is functional and the decor of red and cream-painted walls is smart without being spectacular. All in all it's great place to eat and was certainly quite busy with customers when I was there.

As the sign outside says "Coffee Junction - to meet, to eat". Afterwards, I went for a walk down to The Junction Bookshop.

A beautiful husky type dog was sleeping inside the doorway, which I didn't want to disturb, so I just glanced at the books on the stalls outside - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Fellwalking with Wainwright, Life’s Too Short To Drink Bad Wine by Simon Hoggart....

On the way I'd passed other restaurants, cafes and takeaways and wondered where I could go to next. There was plenty of food for thought.
