A historic chapel is set to go to auction with a guide price of just £55,000. Capel Pisgah is found in a village near Bangor in Gwynedd.

Built in 1832 in Chapel Street, Rhiwlas, the Weslayan chapel was modernised several times in 1863 and 1897. It is being sold by Dafydd Hardy estate agents with its website stating that it is in a scenic village with "far-reaching countryside views".

It is said to be suitable for a variety of commercial uses subject to planning consent. In February North Wales Live reported how the chapel and vestry were on the market for £125,000.

Then in June the price dropped to £95,000 for the two buildings. The vestry has been sold separately and subject to contract.

A Dafydd Hardy spokesman said the asking price for the chapel alone is now £55,000. It is 132 square metres and is being sold freehold.

The former chapel still has its pine pews and features including striking yellow cornices on the ceiling.

Estate agent Dafydd Hardy said it was an "impressive former chapel within the rural community of Rhiwlas". They added: "The vestry has been sold separately but the chapel will be going to auction very soon".
