35 brilliant photos of life in Wrexham over the decades capture people, lost shops and Wrexham AFC
These photos taken between 1959 and 1989 include shops that no longer exist and former Wrexham AFC players

Wrexham has changed significantly over the years, with streets and buildings now looking very different.
North Wales Live has delved through the Mirrorpix archive and unearthed 35 photos that capture life in Wrexham from 1959 to 1989. Many show how the town’s streets once looked, with shops, restaurants and businesses standing along them that no longer exist.
Some of the images capture Wrexham’s people, including shoppers on the bustling high streets and staff at various places. Wrexham AFC’s players and employees are also pictured in numerous decades at their beloved The Racecourse Ground.

The photos below also include Queen Elizabeth II visiting the area in 1976 when hundreds of locals lined the streets. Many of the images perfectly capture vintage cars, fashions and hairstyles of each era.
